In the first five months, the added value of industries above designated size across the country increased by 6.2 year-on-year, and the manufacturing industry increased by 6.7; the added value of the equipment manufacturing industry increased by 7.5 year-on-year in May, becoming an important force driving industrial growth, of which computer communications and other electronic equipment The manufacturing industry increased by 14.5, and the manufacturing industry of railways, ships, aerospace and other transportation equipment increased by 11.8, all maintaining double-digit growth.

"In May, the transformation and upgrading of my country's industrial economy continued to advance, and the competitiveness of high-end products continued to increase." Looking at the total amount, the growth rate of the added value of the equipment manufacturing industry above designated size has been higher than the average level of all regulated industries for 10 consecutive months, and the proportion of the added value of the regulated industries has remained above 30% for 15 consecutive months. In May, the equipment manufacturing industry contributed 45.7 per cent to the growth of all regulated industries.

Looking at the breakdown, in the equipment manufacturing industry, the added value of the electronics and automotive industries increased by 14.5 percent and 7.6 percent, respectively, contributing more than 30 percent to the growth of all regulated industries; the remaining six industries also achieved growth.

In terms of equipment renewal, the "Implementation Plan for Promoting Equipment Renewal in the Industrial Field" issued this year proposes that by 2027, the scale of equipment investment in the industrial field will increase by more than 25% compared with 2023. With policy support, in the first five months, investment in the purchase of equipment and tools increased by 17.5 year-on-year, and investment in technological transformation of the manufacturing industry increased by 10.0. Driving the continuous release of equipment demand, in May, the added value of radio and television equipment manufacturing and communication equipment manufacturing industries increased by 30.7 percent and 15.7 percent respectively; CNC forging equipment increased by 17.2 percent, and special equipment for the electronics industry increased by 11 percent.

In terms of trade-in, with the implementation of supporting policies for trade-in of consumer goods in various places, superimposed on the advance of the "618" online shopping promotion activities, the sales of new energy vehicles have risen. According to data from the China Automobile Dealers Association, the transaction volume of new energy passenger vehicles increased by 38.4 in May.

At the same time, external demand is gradually picking up. In its latest World Economic Outlook report, the International Monetary Fund (IMF) forecasts that global trade, which includes goods and services, will grow by 3 per cent this year. In the first five months, the export delivery value of automobiles increased by 19.4 over the same period of last year; the railway, ship, aerospace, general equipment, special equipment, metal products and other industries increased by 8.0 to 34.0, the growth rate was higher than the average level of all regulated industries; the export delivery value of automobile, electrical machinery, railway, ship, aerospace, special equipment and other industries accounted for an increase in the proportion of all regulated industrial exports.

However, it should also be noted that the external environment is becoming more severe and complex, and problems such as the low level of corporate profitability still need to be dealt. It is very important to continue to promote the high-end, intelligent and green development of the equipment manufacturing industry, and to promote the transformation and upgrading of the industry.
